The exhibition Barbarian Tsunami. Migration Period between the Odra and the Vistula concludes the implementation of the interdisciplinary research project Migration Period between the Odra and the Vistula (2012-2017) conducted at the University of Warsaw and funded by the Polish National Science Centre (decision no. DEC-2011/02/A/HS3/00389).

As part of the Project, a number of archaeological sites were excavated, more notably, at Suchań, Stargard district in western Pomerania, and at the “Hanging Man Cave” at Kroczyce-Okupne, Zawiercie district, north of Cracow. They brought in new materials dating to the Migration Period now presented in the Exhibition. Palaeobotanical studies focused on the 1st millennium AD were carried out in several sites in northern Poland. Their results are presented in the Exhibition as well.
